Precision-Aire had the honor of working on what has been dubbed one of the Ten Most Haunted Places In America by the Travel Channel—the COS store at 129 Spring Street in New York City. The historic townhouse, built in 1817, was built near the site of The Manhattan Well Murder which happened in 1799. In the basement of their men’s section, the high-end clothing retailer retained the old brick well which was featured in the case, becoming a destination for tourists and paranormal enthusiasts alike.
While we remain silent about the ghostly antics we did or did not witness while working on the haunted building, we can’t help but be proud of the project, as it was the first Trane VRF system installed in New York City. COS, which is part of the large global H&M retailer, had a strict installation schedule and the historic residential space hampered installation of modern commercial size HVAC equipment. Equipment rigging was an additional challenge since the geographic location of the building required Precision to swing equipment over the adjacent building, which had to be evacuated during the procedure.
